Botany

Leek belongs to the Liliaceae family and the Allium genus. Its botanical characteristics are:

  • It measures approximately 3 centimeters in diameter by 40 centimeters long, with a white elongated bulb and deep green leaves.

  • Its flavor is sweeter than that of an onion.

Health benefits

  • Antibody formation - Leek is a good source of folate, which is involved in protecting the immune system.

  • Better circulation - It has blood flow promoting properties, aiding in the control of obesity, diabetes and cholesterol.
