Blueberries

General characteristics of our crops

  • Location - We have two production sites in Baja California, Mexico’s, Coastal Zone, and in the Tepic area of the State of Nayarit, Mexico.

  • Availability of the product: September - June

  • Climate conditions - Blueberries thrive in cold wooded areas; LOW CHILL and HIGHBUSH varieties have adapted well to more moderate Mediterranean climates.

  • Crops: Conventional and organic

Botany

  • Genus - Blueberries (Vaccinium Corymbosum) is a plant of the Vaccinium genus, native of the United States.

  • The berries grow in bunches and are round, with sizes ranging from 0.7 to 1.5 centimeters in diameter.

  • Its cuticle is covered by white bloom, which contains antioxidants and must stay on the berry to guarantee its quality.

Health benefits

  • Immune system - Fortifies the inmmune system due to its high concentrations of Vitamin C, Manganese, B Complex, Selenium, Zinc and Iron.

  • Digestive system - Rich in Sodium, Copper and Fructuose, as well as fiber, which helps digestion.

  • Slows the ageing process - Due to its great concentration of antioxidants, Blueberries prevent illnesses related to age, like arthritis, diabetes, cancer and cardiac complications.
